Barge, Llangollen Canal, Wales

Not many records for this year and just three photos.

We think we picked this boat up at Chick Marina near Wrexham and did a one week trip on the Llangollen Canal.

It was a very wet week and Alan had decided to wear a knee–length black PVC raincoat to keep him dry whilst steering. The memorable moment came when we were mooring up and with the boat a couple of feet from the bank, he decided to jump from the boat onto the bank. Unfortunately, unbeknown to him, the long raincoat caught on a bollard, halting his trajectory towards the bank and stopping him in mid–flight. Unfortunately gravity took over and deposited him in the river.

Having recovered and venturing down the pub for dinner, he found his pockets to still be full of water – luckily no fish!
