Dungroamin Holidays 2009

Saturday, June 6th

Having now visited Eastern Europe several times without being locked up by the Stasi, Dungroamin again ventured Eastwards in 2009, this time to the town of Krakow in Poland. As usual we didn’all travel together. Alan, Barbara, Brian, Joanie, Chris and Sally travelling from Luton and Jerry and Fiona flying in from Gatwick.

After booking in, we all met up in the nearby square for a square dance – no actually would you believe we settled for a drink.

As the evening drew in, it became evident that one side of the square was a mecca for martin type birds which Chris swiftly identified as, yes, Red Kite! Oh, no that was another trip. No they were swifts which were perhaps nesting in the church tower at the corner of the square.

Our hotel the Rezydent.

Chris explained that swifts are unique in that they spend their whole lives in the air. No problem with the mile high club for them then. The chicks must be dam clever though, getting out of the egg and learning to fly before it hits the ground!

So after a “swift” half, we selected a restaurant out of one of the guide books, choosing the Pollera where we had a three course meal with drinks for 65 zlotys each (about £13). The Mâitre De seemed to be a little sad old lady who’s facial expression did not change as she pointed you in the direction of the toilets.

After finishing our meal we went back to the square and found a bar to have a drink. We had to shelter under the sun shades as it started to rain.

Definitely not stayed in a room like this before.

The four pole dancers look to be sagging a bit – the flags, that is!

Alan’s soup with bread turns out to be soup in bread. Not the last suggestive crust we’ll come across.

So I wonder who it is that is trying to hide?
