The Hors d'OeuvresThe 2006 Dungroamin Holiday was held in Prague which for those who don't know is in the Czech Republic. This was only the second time in the history of Dungroamin Holidays that an attempt had been made to travel abroad and certainly the first by air. The task of trying to get 10 people to the same place at the same time many miles away being quite daunting. But nothing is beyond the wit and imagination of the Dungroamin team. The first part of the plan involved most of us travelling from the same airport so this gave us the opportunity of meeting up on the Friday evening to test the sanity of two new recruits: Pete and Kathy. This they passed with flying colours especially after the first pint or two. |

So eight of us flew from East Midlands with BMIbaby. On arrival at Prague airport, we hired an eight-seat taxi to take us to the hotel. Chris must have thought it was self-drive or something, because he was just about to leap into the driver's seat until the driver told him that he needed to sit where the steering wheel was. Jerry and Fiona flew from Gatwick with Easyjet. We arrived at the City Inn Hotel about mid afternoon just about in time to watch England's first world cup match on the telly. For some reason the girls preferred wandering around the shops. |
In the evening we had dinner in a restaurant just down the main street from the hotel called the Needlehouse, no doubt because of the vertical kebabs that they served as a speciality. |

After the meal we wandered down to the main square and on to Charles Bridge, one of the famous landmarks of Prague. We walked back towards the hotel to see if we could find a suitable bar. We found one up a small arcade - but as we were trying to decide if it was of suitable quality, the barman came running after us to get us to have a drink, which we did. Kathy had an African cocktail which she seemed to enjoy, fortunately not enough for her to get her bongos out! |
