SundayOn Sunday we decided to take a trip into Lille where we had a walk around some of the streets. There are some interesting buildings and Le Alan busied himself taking pictures for the record. |

We looked for somewhere to have coffee and were just about to sit down in one pavement café when we made a late change of mind and walked across the road the another place. The sole slightly undesirable looking customer in the first café thought we were taking exception to him and later left giving us a tirade of no doubt French expletives. Sacrebleu! |

After the coffee we made our way to the museum where we spent a leisurely hour of so studying French history. We then carefully selected somewhere to eat and chose La Baignoire or Bathtub. They had lots of very nice waitresses at this restaurant. The only problem was that they kept finishing their shift and leaving. So no sooner had we got some attention from a waitress than they walked out of the door. Consequently this meal was somewhat protracted and we took two and a quarter hours to finish it. |

We went to the Citadel which had restircted access and so was not very exciting. But next door was the zoo, which was much better as it had lots of animals. On returning to the Chateau, we had our last supper in Le Vasco : Brasserie – Bar. When we had booked the meal at the Chateau reception, the girl behind the counter seemed to know all our room numbers off by heart. We are not quite sure why this was. Had she been warned to keep an eye on these Dungroamin Holiday makers? |
